A Craniosacral treatment is soothing and pleasant to receive – people have been known to fall asleep – and so safe that it is frequently recommended by Health Visitors and Midwives and chosen by parents to treat their infants and children.
"The nervous system holds the key to the body's incredible potential to heal itself."Sir Jay Holder, M.D., D.C., Ph.D.
If you are considering manipulative treatment, i.e. osteopathy, chiropractic, or other form of physiotherapy, but are anxious about the techniques, you may find this mild and gentle therapy a more suitable alternative.
Treatment for adults is usually carried out on a comfortable therapy couch, there is generally no need to remove any clothing other than shoes and belts. Children require a more flexible approach, they often remain seated and can watch a favourite DVD, toddlers are able to move about freely, playing with toys, and infants are often treated in arms, even when feeding.
"The treatments themselves do not 'cure' the condition, they simply restore the body's self-healing ability."Leon Chaitow, N.D., D.O.
Occasionally just one treatment may bring about the desired change, but typically three treatments are necessary to resolve common problems, sometimes (particularly with a long standing issue) it may be necessary to continue treatment for an extended period of time.
